RB Capital is a private investment company. It invests proprietary capital on behalf of a single family across a broad range of asset classes, in both public and private markets, over a horizon measured in generations rather than in fund cycles.
The firm invests directly in real estate and property, in private companies, and in listed securities. It acts alongside operating partners, developers and management teams with whom it maintains established relationships, and retains a limited number of external managers where specialist expertise complements its own.
RB Capital is headquartered in Singapore and invests in Australia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Europe.
Principles
- I
Permanent capital.
The firm invests capital that is not subject to redemption. It is therefore able to hold an asset for as long as ownership remains warranted, and to decline any transaction that requires a predetermined exit.
- II
Relationships precede transactions.
Opportunities arise principally from relationships held over many years, with operators, developers, management teams and advisers who understand how the firm works. RB Capital is seldom the last party to be called, and rarely a participant in a competitive process.
- III
One standard.
The firm invests across a broad range of asset classes in public and private markets, but the standard by which each is judged does not vary. Nothing is acquired merely to complete an allocation.
- IV
Direct ownership.
Wherever practicable the firm invests directly and takes a position of influence. It prefers to know the asset, the market and the management itself, rather than through an intermediary.
- V
Certainty of execution.
Decisions are taken by a small number of people who are accountable for them. The firm answers quickly, and what it commits to, it completes.
- VI
A generational horizon.
The firm is managed for a period longer than the working life of anyone within it. Assets are acquired in the expectation that they will pass to a generation that has had no say in them, and that expectation governs what is bought, what is declined, and how much risk is thought reasonable.
RB Capital invests solely the capital of the family it serves. It does not seek, solicit or accept third-party investors, and does not provide investment advice to third parties.
